The Burroughs' mission is rooted in collaboration, and we believe fostering relationships with our supporters and friends brings our families more valued opportunities. Tutors needed

We are always looking to add to our list of dedicated tutors. Tutors meet once or twice a week with the same child and work on math and reading comprehension. Many of our members are a year or two behind in their literacy studies and NEED our help to advance to the next grade. VITA Volunteers needed

Last year nine volunteers were trained and helped complete over 400 returns, bringing over 600,000 back to community members. This year we need to build the program even bigger. If you can use a computer, it is likely you are able to file simple returns. We swear it’s not as scary as it may sound. Quick Start Language Center volunteers needed

We need volunteers to keep the QSLC available and open. Volunteers are asked to work once every few weeks to a few times a week. Whatever time you are able to give! There are also opportunities to volunteer on the days and evenings we offer group classes. For more information on how to get involved with the Center call Renzo at (203) 696-1309.

 

Join an Event Committee

Through fundraising events we are able to provide quality programs at an affordable fee for our families. Our two major fundraising events each year are Freezin' for a Reason and Dinner with Friends. Both events are fun and successful and we look forward to improving them every year. If you like to plan, organize or just join the party, contact us to get involved. Online Donations

Our new online donation page is up and running. Here, you can contribute to Burroughs using your Visa or MasterCard. The site is protected with the latest encryption technology, assuring total safety and privacy.

Matching Gifts

Does your place of employment have a Matching Gifts Program? Contact your HR department and see if your company or firm can double—or even triple—your donation!

 

Give the Gift of Stocks

At many times a gift of stock can be very advantageous to the donor. If you would like to make a stock donation to the Burroughs Community Center, give your broker the information below. It can be easy to transfer stocks to Burroughs while reaping the tax benefits.
